The Blue Man Group & Mr. Weird Al Yankovic
The photo above captures a bit of my professional carrier over the past few years- I really like it.
Strings Attached Tour 2019
Between June 5 and Sept. 1, 2019, we played 67 shows in 64 venues all across North America as part of the Strings Attached tour. Every single show featured a live symphony orchestra – usually around 41 pieces, but sometimes much bigger (like the Nashville Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra). We also traveled for the first time with backup singers. This was our biggest and most elaborate tour ever, and frankly, I’m not sure how we’d ever top it!
The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour
Weird Al” Yankovic and his band played 77 shows from Feb. 27 to June 10, 2018 on their Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour, which played to sold-out venues all across North America. This tour was unique in that it featured stripped-down production (no costumes, props or video screens) and showcased Al’s original material (as opposed to his parodies). Was so grateful to of been a part of this “different style” of tour for Al. Due to it being a completely different show format it allowed me to push some of the lighting elements more then the traditional Al show with Video. Really a great project to work on with wonderful people!
A snippet of a review the show got when we were playing Chicago. Thanks for the complement on the lighting Zach!
With this tour, Yankovic has made a huge adjustment to his standard performance and taken a risk, dropping the venue size (for comparison, he performed at the Chicago Theatre in 2015) and the spectacle (no costumes, dance numbers or big hits) and is instead bringing out the less well-known gems from his 14 albums in a stripped-down, five-piece rock concert (the light show is still on point).
So does it pay off? A thousand times yes. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either an Al noob or just someone who can’t appreciate a good accordion solo (you know the type).

This was my favorite song from the last tour (out of around 60 songs) when it came to running lights. No cues all in the fingers on this one.
Sorry about the shakiness near the end, was really grooving with it since it was the last time I got to run this song.

Corporate Shows
Been keeping very busy around town and the USA on some corporate events. Early mornings are not my favorites, but do feel grateful that I get so much freedom on most of these gigs when sprucing up the lighting for them. It’s a fun workout for a lighting designers mind sometimes.
Beyond thrilled to be back out with this Gentleman!
Was asked to step back in as lighting designer for the 2016 US/Canada run of Weird Al's Mandatory Fun Tour. Had an amazing time getting to be back with my first touring family. Will always jump at the chance to work with this great show and people. Very excited about the future of things to come with AL!!

The Entertainment Department
For a year I had been working as Warehouse Manager/head lighting tech for The Entertainment Department in Atlanta Georgia. The Company in the summer of 2015 needed to move to a larger space. I took on the project of getting the warehouse moved from a 3,000sq ft location to a 9,000sq location. In the process of the move I also was able to implement how the shop would function on a day to day bases. It was a great project and I learned a ton threw it all. After a year In March 2016 I left my full time position at the shop in hopes to do a more designing, touring, and programming for live shows. However, will continue to work with The Entertainment Department whenever they need help. Great group of people working at the company!

Weird Al Yankovic...The Alpocalypse Tour
In July 2011, I joined the technical and design team for Weird Al's, "Apocalypse Tour". I was so grateful to have been given this amazing opportunity. I did close to 100 shows all over the United States and Canada with the tour. In just over a year, we where able to completely overhaul the lighting and video systems for the show. Convinced the tour to ditch the old projection system, for a newer, more modern system- complete with a full LED screen, a new lighting package consisting of pre-rigged truss, full grand-MAs and even some LED fixtures. I'm very proud of my time with the tour and being able to work with this new technology on such a creative show. Working with an artist such as Al, who is so devised in his music and show, was really an amazing treat
Blue Man Group, NYC
I started with Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theater in 2008 on the lighting crew, and was added to the Audio crew in 2009. In the Fall of 2010 we updated the 18 year old show on a massive scale. Adding automation, new lighting, sound, video systems, and re-vamping of the entire show. This was an amazing process to be a part of. In 2011 we had the 20th anniversary of the show where the three original members/creators of Blue Man performed for the first time in eleven years! Dave Mathews was also on hand for a acoustic set before the show. That is just a handful of the great experiences I was exposed to over the past five years. I'm so grateful to be able to work on this great production, with such good people.
